The Show Goes On by Ron Fassler

THE SHOW GOES ON is my favorite book-on-the-side at the moment… I'll be sorry when I complete it.

Ben Brantley — former NY Times chief theatre critic

The Author

Paper route kid, Broadway insider,
independent writer

Between the ages of twelve and sixteen, Ron Fassler saw over 200 Broadway shows from the cheap seats — funded entirely by his Long Island paper route. That obsession became a life. He acted in film and television for three decades, working alongside directors like Mike Nichols, Clint Eastwood, and Christopher Guest. Then he turned to writing full-time.

Today Ron is one of the most prolific theater writers working independently. His column "Theatre Yesterday and Today" has run for over 269 installments — part history, part criticism, part love letter to Broadway — and he publishes all of it at ronfassler.org, his own website powered entirely by Stck.

Paul Rudnick
Novelist, playwright and screenwriter
A wonderful book and essential to anyone in the theater and everyone else as well. In these depressing times it cheered me enormously, as a testament to the enduring excitement and heartbreak of theater.
BC
Bill Condon
Academy Award winning screenwriter
Part history, part memoir, The Show Goes On is also a thoroughly researched and reported work of journalism, which is not to say you won’t find some juicy backstage dish on every page. Bravissimo, Mr. Fassler!

It's not available on Amazon but you can order it through his website. I believe every member of Australia's Actors Equity should read it!
