Sartorial Secrets

I’m spending my days in isolation,

Now, that charm, fascination, and excitement to witness sunset daily that used to be there before

यह ही हो तुम,

Here's a fun fact: when I was in grade 2 or 3, I used to love memorising (or learning by-heart as we used to say) poems from Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes. And then, when my father would bring home colleagues for dinner, I would insist that I recite them a poem before they sat down to eat. No one needed to coax or encourage me at all. I would insist on being heard.

I remember the day a piece

When the heavens throw a bridge

My mother tells me with a straight face that granddad is now in hospital

It’s been a while since the rain stopped.

Dipping its pen

दो रोज़ जो मिले, अपना बना लिया।

जीवन... सीखते रहने का नाम है

This city is littered with broken dreams

Since the time I remember I had started writing, I was more inclined towards writing quotes and short poems and less towards writing long form articles or stories. I thought when few words could convey the essence so succinctly then why to unnecessarily fill it with fluff.

I've always had a fondness for Pujo, growing up in pre-millennium city Gurgaon among a lot of Bengali families. Pujo was the annual event I'd look forward to, at our local Samiti's pandal. I'd win the painting competition ever since I was a precocious 4 year old kid, year after year. I remember my brother and I playing hide and seek with the other kids behind the Pandal tent, and me dressing up as a cat for a fancy dress competition while an older girl I knew wore an MJ costume while doing a moonwalk on stage. All this in the backdrop of the Pujo, and songs and delicious prasad. It was a family outing for us at a time where options were limited.

In search of happiness
